Dr. Ayres hails from Indiana. He attended Indiana University as an undergraduate, receiving a B.S. in Biology & received his Doctor of Optometry degree from The New England College of Optometry in 2001, graduating with honors. Upon completion of his training Dr. Ayres entered the U.S. Air Force as part of the Health Professions Scholarship Program. He worked at Wright-Patterson Medical Center for two years providing primary eye care and surgical support; he was awarded the USAF Materiel Command Optometrist of the Year 2002. In 2003, Dr. Ayres and his wife, Kelly, moved to RAF Lakenheath, England where he worked closely with the aerospace visual demands of the F-15 fighter pilots and navigators.
Dr. Ayres joined Dr. Guiley and the Riverbend Eyecare Team in September 2006 & in 2008 took over ownership of the practice. He has a special interest in the diagnosis and management of eye disease, sports vision, and specialty contact lenses. Dr. Ayres is also an Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor at Pacific University’s College of Optometry. In his off time, he enjoys flying, mountain biking, skiing, and playing guitar. Dr Gaus attended the University of Nevada Reno, and earned her B.S. in Biochemistry while graduating Magna Cum Laude, and received her Doctor of Optometry degree in conjunction with a Masters of Education in Visual Function and Learning in 2011 from Pacific Univeristy in Oregon. Dr. Gaus chose to extend her training by completing a residency at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Reno, Nevada. In her free time she enjoys dancing, running, and spending time with her dog, and is excited to enjoy outdoor activities in Bend!
